Description and Mission Statement
The Black Lance RPG is a club brought together to enjoy and play an on line roleplaying game in the Wing Commander universe. It portrays the elite corps of the Black Lance which originated in Wing Commander 4. The RPG encompasses more than just the pilot orientated flight shoot-em- up of the computer game that spawned it. It opens and continues to develop the universe around it and other elements that are assumed in the game design such as ground troops and forces of the marine divisions, ships' personnel and other specialized units of support that is part and parcel of a more in-depth story.
Setting
The Black Lance RPG is set in the Wing Commander Universe during the Proshecy game and follows all current developments and games that will come out hereafter as part of our ongoing time frame. All of the technologies, political and social conventions and developments follow the developments of the game designers to date and will continue to develop more as it details aspects of the universe not covered in the game itself, but always remaining within the technological and social political base on which the game was designed.
Direction
The Black Lance (RPG) picks up with the refomation of the Black Lance Secret Mission Operations. The Black Lance battle groups and support centers, bases and personnel are the newly formed core of the clandestine organization set up by the Confederation JCS, even then only a small few know of the reformation and purpose of the New Black Lance Command.
With the reformation of the Black Lance, paramount in its orders was the striking deep at the enemies of humanity. It operates where and when other more open and noticeable battle groups would for political and social reasons be unable to go when needed. The Black Lance reborn is the forward tip of the spear poised to strike at the enemies of the Confederation and of humanity in the broader sense.
The dark past of the original Lance weighs heavily upon veterans that survived the purge and destruction of that original unit and it forever drives them forward to seek the new goal of the lance. Deeper still in the ultimate goals of the Black Lance is redemption...the drive and humger to rectify and repent the sins if the past and one day again bring the Black Lance out into the oopen as the true elite warriors of humanity -- the protectors and defenders of the seed of man that spreads ever outward into unknown space.
These are the epic goals of the elite personnel of the Black Lance, whether they be in the few battle groups or of those numbered in the support roles scattered among the stars and dust of our galaxy.
